Racing Career

My formal racing is limited to several years on my high school ski team, ages ago, and some recreational races since then. I hope to be able to join a masters type circuit in the near future. I grew up in a skiing family, and was enrolled in lesson programs from an early age.  

Career

During the week I am a licensed architect specializing in the design and construction management of sustainable homes.  I founded my firm, Solares Architecture, with my wife Christine 18 years ago.  Check out our work online www.solares.ca

I also build homes on the side, and recently completed a major renovation of our home in Toronto.  I have a Masters and Bachelors degrees in Architecture from the University of Waterloo, and have been lucky enough to work and study in numerous cities and countries.

Fun Fact

I really like talking about energy efficiency, particularly heat pumps.  Ask me about them some time!

One More Thing

I am very passionate about skiing fundamentals, particularly turn shape,  and love working on techniques outside of race course.  I am certified as a level 2 Instructor and Entry Level Coach.  I trained for my Development Level certification just before Covid and would like to  complete that in the coming years,
